I guess since it’s not so decentralized, they can get their nodes to prohibit transactions of the 1.1B VET… they suspect inside job… “Security breach was most likely due to misconduct of one of the team members within our finance team, who have created the buyback account without thoroughly obeying The Standard Procedure approved by the Foundation, and our auditing team did not pick up this misconduct, due to human error.”

Chris Hughes: Okay, so this is a clever race condition but this article is misinfomed. First of all the MakerDAO contracts arent single contracts, but rather a masssive spider of subcontracts. There are governers in place for risk on the network. This type of attack has been theorized and Maker would stop working before the attack could work. It’s a very nieve writeup. Should there be more checks in place? Yes, this also game up when DAI was put onto Coinbase. OpenZepplin found an attackvector and disclosed it, contracts were patched and the world moved on.

Jared Moore Chris Hughes super appreciate your insights, i though it was “doom impending”

Chris Hughes Jared Moore Not fair… it is still defi… it’s outside the regulatory stucture but yes there might me some need to look at a governance upgrade, but there are tradeoffs. First off the Maker humans are some of the best in this game, their contracts are very well designed pieces of software.

This is hilarious. This happened circa 1999 when companies added .com to their name. History repeats. The crash won’t repeat this time (maybe it will for this stock though). ;)
